HOW DR. BROSKY CONDUCTS PSYCHOTHERAPY IN A COLLABORATIVE SETTING:

As she explains it, “I help you understand problems, identify conflicting feelings, set goals for treatment, and become aware of inner strengths and resources that help you resolve your problems. As you gain understanding of the origin and development of your problems, I can help you develop alternative perspectives, more adaptable coping styles and behaviors, and a sense of empowerment to control your life and resolve those problems.”

To help you achieve your goals, Dr. Brosky uses her expertise in various therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Ego-State Therapy, interpersonal, experiential, psychodynamic therapies, and tools or techniques like clinical hypnosis and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

For some problems such as anxiety, panic, stress or public speaking performance anxiety, she may use a CBT approach combined with relaxation or self-hypnosis techniques.

Dr. Brosky also works with clients with medical illnesses, for example, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). She uses hypnosis that research has shown to reduce or eliminate symptoms.

Other symptoms might require an approach that focuses on feelings combined with imagery to help you explore the various parts of yourself that could be contributing to your distress.

EMDR is sometimes used to help clients resolve traumatic events in their lives and once these events are resolved, clients are able to move forward in their lives.

Whatever your symptom might be, psychotherapy can help you gain greater insight and inner peace to live a more fulfilling life as you confront life’s challenges and transitions.
